ENQUIRIES from TV and film production companies looking to film in Bradford have risen by 35 per cent in the past year.

Bradford has been the backdrop for a number of high profile productions in the past year, from Victoria (pictured) to Peaky Blinders.

It has seen city sights such as Bradford City Hall and Little Germany regularly transformed into film locations, with stars such as John Malkovich and Rupert Grint making the city their temporary home.

A report into city centre regeneration, to be discussed by Bradford Councillors at a meeting tomorrow night, highlights the impact such filming is having on business.

Much of the filming has been thanks to the work of Bradford City of Film, which encourages major productions to consider the city as a location.

The report says: “Building on the success of 2017, when 35 film and TV productions were based in the District, production enquiries have increased by a further 35 per cent in 2018.

“Each production is staying for longer in the city, resulting in an increase in overall economic impact. Hotels and other services have reported an increase in activity due to filming projects.”
