A CIGARETTE caused a house fire in Tong in the early hours of the morning.
Firefighters from Bradford and Odsal were called to Loris Street, off Tong Street, at around 12.20am.
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the cigarette caused the lounge curtains to catch fire, which then spread to furniture in the corner of the room.
Those in the house were alerted to the blaze by smoke detectors and the smell and managed to put the fire out with some water.
Firefighters cleared the smoke from the house and stayed at the scene for around an hour.
The brigade has advised people to close doors at night as this can help to contain fires and stop smoke spreading.
