X-FACTOR star Danny Tetley has made it through to the second week of the live shows.

The Shipley man wowed judges with his performance on Saturday evening, despite a technical hitch that left him having to restart his song.

A fellow contestant's name (Anthony Russell) was announced instead, which put the Bradford singer off, but he battled on and received praise from the judges and one fan said his rendition of Mariah Carey's "Hero" left her in tears.

Judge, Robbie Williams, said: "You're like Mariah Carey with a beard."

Come Sunday night for the tense results show, there was no error in sight when it was announced Danny had got through, taking him one step closer to his dream.

This was despite a double elimination which saw Olatunji Yearwood (The Overs) and Armstrong Martins (The Boys) sent home from the competition.

The Bradfordian is quickly building a strong fanbase with a combined total of over 10,000 followers on two Facebook support pages - the "Danny Tetley's got the X-Factor" and the "Team Danny Tetley" groups.

He also has 4,572 followers on Instagram, with a slightly lower number - at 3,130 - on Twitter.

Danny's army of fans includes a host of famous faces including Carol Vorderman, ex-Emmerdale star Verity Rushworth and Danniella Westbrook.

The ex-Eastenders actress tweeted Danny to say: "Actually couldn’t be prouder of you princess Danny Tetley - cried my eyes out."

The theme of the two days had been "This Is Me" - a whole weekend dedicated to The Greatest Showman - with acts choosing songs they felt represented them.

This focus on the spectacular production came to a head on the Sunday evening when The Greatest Showman singer treated the audience to a performance of "This Is Me."

Line closed roughly 20 minutes into the show, which was followed by an appearance from last year's winners, Rak-Su.

As the classic X-Factor elimination music dropped, Danny Tetley stood hand in hand with his fellow Overs' contestants and their judge, Ayda Field.

Non of Ayda's acts had been selected as "safe" when host, Dermot O'Leary approached the midway point of announcing the results.

But, the name on Dermot's lips for his 12th announcement was Bradford's Danny Tetley.

The singer celebrated with a real passion as he dropped to his knees and pumped the air whilst shouting "yes" several times, before hugging Adya and letting out a few more fist pumps as he left the stage.

Danny thanked his fans on Twitter and Instagram later in the evening.

He said: "I cannot say thank you, thank you, thank you enough. Completely overwhelmed and humbled by each and everyone of you who took the time to vote. See you guys next week."

Yesterday a black Mercedes ML 350 CDI was seen parked up outside a local Morrison's sporting a number of stickers in support of Danny Tetley.

Now, only 14 contestants remain with the final - officially confirmed as taking place on Saturday December 1st - one step closer.

The X-Factor continues this weekend where you can support Danny by voting for him when lines open.
