A CONVICTED sex offender who attacked a police officer and smashed into two cars after he was caught driving illegally has been jailed for 18 months.

Mohammed Nadeem repeatedly punched PC Stephen Oliver in the face in a dramatic confrontation in Grantham Road, Shearbridge, Bradford, shortly before 11.30am on July 25.

Nadeem, 34, of Silverdale Road, West Bowling, Bradford, was driving a red Skoda Fabia in breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for indecently exposing himself to three teenage students.

When PC Oliver, who was on uniformed patrol, told him to turn off the car engine, Nadeem got out of the vehicle and approached him with his fist clenched, prosecutor Caroline Abraham told Bradford Crown Court.

PC Oliver used pava spray on Nadeem but he attacked the officer with the car keys clutched in his fist, causing a cut above his right eye that needed hospital treatment.

The defendant then drove off, backing into a parked car and hitting a BMW police vehicle, before speeding along a pedestrianised area leading to Laisteridge Lane.

The court heard that Nadeem had not notified the police that he was the registered keeper of the Skoda and had been driving it for a month.

That put him in breach of a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed at Bradford Crown Court three years ago.

That case involved Nadeem driving round Bradford under the influence of drink and exposing himself to three female students, aged 16, 17 and 18.

He pursued his victims in a silver Ford Focus on September 3, 2015.

Nadeem’s first victim was near Bradford Academy, in Teasdale Street, East Bowling.

She saw him holding his penis in his right hand after he followed her in his car.

Nadeem struck again in Bolling Hall Road.

The two complainants said he was nervous and stuttering and his trousers were down to his knees.

Yesterday, Nadeem was sentenced after pleading guilty to assaulting PC Oliver, dangerous driving, criminal damage to the vehicles and breaching the Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

His barrister, Gerald Hendron, said his client had pleaded guilty to all the offences and made early admissions in his police interview.

He was only days from completing the three year community order imposed for exposure, the court heard.

Nadeem was a chronic heroin addict who led a chaotic lifestyle.

Although separated from his wife, she had attended court to support him.

The offences arose from a single incident and Nadeem had shown remorse.

Judge Jonathan Rose banned Nadeem from driving for a total of two years and nine months.
