THIS Summer's Bradford Science Festival attracted over 34,000 people, with 40 per cent of them visiting from outside the district.

After a pilot event in Summer 2017, July saw the festival expanded with events taking place in City Park, Broadway and the National Science and Media Museum.

At a meeting of Bradford Council last week, it was revealed that the festival, curated by the museum, attracted 34,347 people.

The event saw Doctor Who activities in the museum, Titan the Robot performing in City Park, a fleet of drones and the city's Mirror Pool transformed into a water lab.

Councillor Angela Tait, the Council's STEM (Science, technology, engineering, maths) ambassador, asked Leader Susan Hinchcliffe to join her in congratulating the organisers.

Cllr Hinchcliffe responded saying: "The festival was a huge success.

"The full evaluation will be completed shortly but the team are already delighted to know there was a good gender balance of people attending, 52 per cent male and 48per cent female, and the ethnic diversity of attendees broadly reflects the ethnic diversity from across the city."
