RETIRED musician Guy Mowbray is hoping the people of Bradford can help with some research for his forthcoming book.
Guy, a retired musician from Chesterfield, is currently penning 'When The Screaming Stopped. The Small Faces Live 1965 to 1969' and is keen to hear people's memories of a pitch invasion during a charity football match at Odsal Stadium, Bradford in 1966.
Guy explains how the rock band made an impromptu appearance at the event which is understood to have caused quite a stir in the stadium at that time.
He explains his inspiration for the book came from an article about a brass section who played with The Small Faces in 1968 on the band's album 'Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake' and on tour.
Guy became pals with one of the musicians who also recorded with The Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, Georgie Fame and Soft Machine.
He was also interested in a biography about Cleckheaton-born Derek Wadsworth, a talented trombonist and session musician who toured with the band in 1968 and is keen to find out more about Derek.
Guy began writing the book three years ago and hopes to get it published next year.
"The book follows the trajectory of the band from its Mod/R&B roots to a teen-pop scream-machine era," explains Guy.
