Alison Dewey, of Southend BID, shares all the spooy goings-on this half term in the town.

IF the prospect of half ferm is already making your eyelid twitch and wondering whether it is “Wine O’Clock” yet, don’t panic. There’s plenty to see and do in Southend throughout the week and there’s a distinctly spooky theme to all the gloriously ghastly goings on.

The fabulous Southend Pier Halloween Ghost Train starts the first of its three consecutive Saturday trips tomorrow.

Your adventure starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 8.30pm. Show your ticket to the scary inspector at the pier entrance, and then it’s all aboard.

During your trip, you’ll be entertained with creepy tales and dances, brilliantly crafted by the South East Essex College team.

It’s also the ideal opportunity to watch the seafront fireworks with a view open to Ghost Train ticket holders.

The Victoria Shopping Centre is staging its very own Haunted Halloween on October 27 from 11am to 6pm.

There’s a Cursed Castle to explore, face painting, glitter tattoos, bewitched balloon modelling, a magical wizard and more.

Adventure Island’s wildly popular Fright Fantastic also makes a welcome return. Running from October 22 to October 28, it promises spooky music, costume characters galore and loads of free, fun stuff. Treasure hunts will take place throughout each day, at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
