A MAN accused of organising a shooting in which a Bradford house was sprayed with bullets has told a jury the incident was nothing to do with him.

Michael Webster said he did not see a firearm being discharged at the property in Hill Top Road, Thornton, or hear any gunfire connected to the incident, shortly after 2am on October 20 last year.

Webster, 27, of Hill Crest, Swillington, Leeds, is on trial at Bradford Crown Court with Byron Kiloh, 19, of Broadstone Way, Holme Wood, Bradford, and a boy of 15, who cannot be named because of his age.

All three deny possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

During the trial, the jury has heard that sixteen shots were fired at the house in a targeted attack using an assault rifle.

Prosecutor Gerald Hendron said the occupiers, Paul Serrant and Sophie Holmes, were upstairs when the bullets passed through the front door and into the kitchen.

The bullets then lodged in cupboards and drawers in the kitchen, the court heard.

Webster told the court he had been in a relationship with Miss Holmes and that a brick was put through the window of his then address, in Wansford Close, Holme Wood, after she had began seeing Mr Serrant.

He had no contact with Mr Serrant in the days before the shooting and relations between them were “normal”.

On the night of the shooting, Webster was driving around Bradford in a red VW Golf, the jury heard.

He was looking for Miss Holmes’ blue Corsa to see where she was.

Webster said he checked her home address, her mother’s address and Sackville Street, a city centre street where several nightclubs are located.

He then got Mr Serrant’s address from a friend and drove there with Kiloh and the youth, who was aged 14 at that time.

Webster said he saw two people in balaclavas on a motorbike behaving “dodgily” in Hill Top Road.

After the bike sped off, he took a brick from a wall and parked up near Miss Holmes’ car, the court heard.

He alleged that Kiloh put the brick through the windscreen.

He then drove home after dropping off the teenagers.

Webster said he did not know who was on the motorbike and that the shooting had nothing to do with him.

Kiloh told the police he was at home with his aunt and uncle on the other side of Bradford that night.

The first he knew of the shooting was when he saw reports of it in the media.

The boy said he was in Hill Top Road when the brick was thrown at the Corsa but he had no involvement in the shooting.

The trial continues.
