RETROSPECTIVE plans to turn a former care home into bedsits have been re-submitted, just days after being refused by a planning panel.
Earlier this month Bradford Council’s Bradford Area Planning Panel refused the plans for 16 – 18 Leylands Lane in Heaton.
It was a care home until last year, when it was inspected by the Care Quality Commission and judged inadequate for a second time. Mr Agrawal had converted the house into 15 bedsits without permission.
The committee refused the retrospective plan, saying 15 bedsits would cause traffic issues on an already busy road.
Chair Councillor Shabir Hussain (Lab, Manningham) said he was familiar with the road, and there were already problems with traffic and parking.
A new application for the building has now been submitted, pointing out that highways officers had not raised concerns over parking. The new application includes four on street spaces, and says “residents will have a low level of car ownership.”
A decision on the application is expected in December.
