SIR - Once again I write about the use/abuse of bus lanes within the Bradford area.

Today, I was driving through Frizinghall, towards Bradford in the bus lane at a permitted time (2.45pm) and within the legal speed limit of 30mph. I had passed a parked Shuttle 'bus at the Shipley Fields Road junction dealing with passengers either getting on or off the bus. What happened next? The Shuttle bus overtook my car, clearly exceeding the speed limit and outside the bus lane.

Something must be done about the usage/timings of bus lane usage. Either make them 24/7 or scrap them all together.

Are the authorities looking into the matter? They only seem to look from one point of view in picking up vehicles (with cameras) inside the bus lanes at prohibited times and issuing fines.

As stated before, my understanding is that to drive outside a bus lane when permitted to drive inside that bus lane and traffic flow permits it, is a fail on the current driving test.

D Ratcliffe, Redburn Road, Shipley
