A HIGHLIGHT of the recent Brighouse Arts Festival was an evening with veteran actor Brian Blessed.

Known for his booming voice, the actor was part of the most successful festival ever in the town, with more than 40 events over 10 days.

Matthew Harrison-Lord, festival director said: “This year’s Festival has been a huge success. Our ambitious programme of live music, theatre, literature, comedy and talks was wonderfully received with many events selling out.”

Now in its 6th year, the sell-out audience was treated to anecdotes from Mr Blessed's acting career.

He also gave an insight into working with famous actors such as Laurence Olivier, Kenneth Branagh, Alex Guinness and Peter O’Toole.

The 10-day celebration of the arts encompassed a variety of events including theatre, film, music and comedy, as well as art exhibitions across the town.

Plans are already in place for next year’s festival and other concerts throughout the year.
