BEAUTY retailer Superdrug is to open a new "concept" store in The Broadway shopping centre.

The large unit, next to anchor tenant Debenhams on Charles Street Mall, has been empty since the centre opened almost three years ago.

It was confirmed by general manager of the The Broadway, Ian Ward, on Facebook.

He posted: "It is going to be the latest concept Superdrug store and will open in December."

In addition jobs at the new store are currently being advertised, including roles such as assistant manager, team leader, beauty therapist and health promotion nurse.

The retailer has opened new concept stores in the past, including a new health and wellness store and a new style beauty store.

A report to a key Bradford Council committee providing an update on the regeneration of the city centre, also confirms Superdrug's plans.

It states: "Superdrug have announced that they are taking a large unit adjacent to Debenhams and intend to be trading by Christmas."

Superdrug already has an existing store in the city centre, on Bank Street, and used to have a second shop, on Broadway, which was closed down ahead of the redevelopment of the units to create The Light cinema complex.

The Broadway has been approached for a comment.
