A SCHOOL in Bradford has been awarded a prestigious science award for its commitment to the subject.

Westbourne Primary School in Manningham has received the Primary Science Quality Mark from STEM Learning.

During the past 12 months, the school’s science coordinators have worked with staff and pupils to bring science to the forefront of their learning.

A new assessment system and curriculum has been developed to bring science to life for pupils.

Mathew Atkinson, headteacher, said: “The award is a culmination of hard work by the whole school community to place science at the heart of our curriculum.

“Our science curriculum is creative and educational which excites and motivates our pupils. The school is proud to receive this award.”

The school took part in a rigorous process including visits from assessors to win the Quality Mark, and is one of only 220 primary schools in the UK to be given the award in 2018.
