STUDENTS at two Bradford schools were among 200,000 across the country learning CPR today as part of World Restart a Heart Day.
Children at Tong Leadership Academy and Woodhouse Grove School have taken part in sessions teaching them CPR, which is vital in helping people survive cardiac arrests.
Every year 30,000 people in the UK have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, with just ten per cent making a recovery.
In countries such as Norway, where CPR is more widely taught, survival rates are four times higher.
Local first aid training provider First on Scene Training provided the free sessions at the schools.
Jon Matley, First on Scene director, said: βIt is vitally important that young people are equipped with the skills to save the life of those around them.β
Students were taught how to recognise a cardiac arrest, how to administer CPR, and how to use a defibrillator.
