VOLUNTEERS in Bradford rolled up their sleeves to take part in this year's Sewa Day.

The international volunteering day, which was marked on Sunday, saw around 100 people get involved with projects in the district.

These included collections for the homeless and food banks, painting rooms at Thornton Community Centre (pictured), helping out at Bowling Park Community Orchard and more.

Harkishan Mistry, one of the Bradford co-ordinators, said “The turnout on Sewa Day was really good, around 100 volunteers took part in some wonderful projects that demonstrated just how people can join together to put a smile on the faces of each other, even when faced with such bad weather."

He said volunteers spanned from just four years old to 70 years old, with more than 70 per cent under 25 years old.
