THIS year's winner of the Joan Day Painting Bursary, Marie Collier, has been exhibiting examples of her work at the South Square Centre.

Miss Collier, a local artist from Clayton, presented work including paintings, light projections and video works.

The exhibition, 'Bathed in Light', showed a brand new body of work which she has created since graduating.

Also at the event was local poet Sharena Satti who organised the event alongside South Square programme manager Alice Withers. Ms Satti led a spoken word and open mic event called 'Art of Life' which celebrated National Poetry Day.

The event featured 10 poets or performers with the chance to win prizes of £50, £30 and £20.

There was also a drop-in Zine workshop during the evening.

The exhibition runs at the gallery until October 28.
