A PARKING permit scheme is likely to remain on a number of Thornbury roads, after attempts to have it removed attracted little support.

The City Connect Cycle Route was implemented in 2016 and on Thursday Bradford Council's Bradford East Area Committee will discuss a string of requests to introduce traffic orders, from permit parking to double yellow lines, along the route.

They will also discuss a request by some residents to remove the permit parking from Boyd Avenue, Gwynne Avenue, Woodhall Road, Woodhall Avenue and Woodhall View.

Because removing this restriction would effect over 300 properties, the Council recently sent letters and questionnaires to each household asking if they wanted the permits removed or retained.

Out of 341 letters sent out, there was a response rate of 31 per cent. Just 41 households said they want the restrictions removed and 64 said they wanted the restrictions to remain.

The committee, which meets in City Hall at 6pm, has been advised to retain the permit scheme due to the consultation results.
