ARMED police swooped on Holme Wood last night as part of an ongoing murder probe.

Multiple reports claimed armed officers could be seen in the area around Holme Lane and Fieldside Close.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday), armed police officers attended an address in Holme Lane, Bradford to carry out a warrant in connection with a murder investigation.

“The property was searched, but the subject was not located.

“Enquiries are continuing.”

The spokesman confirmed it was in relation to an incident in Sandford Road, Bradford Moor, last Wednesday, where two men were struck by a vehicle and assaulted.

Amriz Iqbal, 40, of Wetherby, later died.

He is believed to have had three children - a 16-year-old, a two-year-old and an 18-month-old.

The other man suffered minor injuries.

Tony Grant, 38, of Queens Road, Bradford, has been charged with murder and attempted murder and appeared before Bradford Magistrates' Court earlier this week.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court today.

A 35-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident was released under investigation.
