A TOP housing executive has travelled half way round the world to find out more about UK social housing during a fact-finding visit to Incommunities.

Ben Moore, head of housing at AnglicareSA in South Australia, is meeting senior figures at the West Yorkshire-based group to learn more about its key priorities including its new build programme, neighbourhood management, employment services and its work supporting residents affected by welfare benefit reforms.

The four-day visit is being hosted by Incommunities Group chief executive, Geraldine Howley and coincided with national Housing Day which took place yesterday, a 24-hour social media event showcasing the positive impact of social housing on millions of tenants.

She said: “We are delighted to welcome Ben and share with him our approach to delivering housing services and also hear about the Australian model.

“It’s nice to see Ben’s visit coincide with Housing Day as social housing moves up the political agenda with consultation underway into the Social Housing Green Paper. The day is a real opportunity to highlight the excellent work carried out by landlords and residents.”

Ben Moore said: “I’m looking forward to meeting my counterparts from one of UK’s leading housing associations.

“We may be thousands of miles apart but we face similar challenges and it will be great to share ideas and experiences.”
