PLANS have been submitted to build a shepherd's hut in Thornton.

The application says the hut would be in a private field in the grounds of Malt Kiln Hall, Malt Kiln Lane.

Documents submitted say: "The hut would provide attractive luxury accommodation to guests seeking a break in the attractive Bronte country with all the amenities of Thornton and easy access to the surrounding natural landscape.

"Although there are one or two B&B style guest houses in Thornton, the shepherd's hut will help diversify the range of accommodation available to guests by offering a niche provision of which there is a noted gap in the market. The addition of more guest accommodation will support the local shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, museums and other businesses, helping to benefit the economy and vibrant local community."
