PLANS for the festive season are now underway and an action-packed Christmas lights switch-on is promised for Bradford.

The fun will be centred in and around The Broadway shopping centre on Saturday, November 10 where visitors from far and wide are invited to revel in the magic.

Some famous faces are also expected to make an appearance.

Ian Ward, General Manager at The Broadway, said: “We’ve got an action-packed day planned for the festive launch at The Broadway and it’s certainly not one to be missed.

“There will be huge amounts to see and do in Bradford during the run up to Christmas and we’re expecting visitors from all over this year.

“A couple of famous faces will be joining us on the big day to help kick off our seasonal calendar with a bang. We’ll be announcing more shortly, so watch this space.”

Made Bradford will be hosting a new winter market on the day.

A statement from Made Bradford said: “In conjunction with the fantastic Broadway shopping centre, Bradford Council have released 15 stalls for traders to sell their goods to early Christmas shoppers. This is open to BOTH food and non-food traders.

“The Christmas light switch-on will happen inside The Broadway shopping centre and there will be lots of exciting stuff going nearby.

“There will be delightful children’s rides and entertainment on Tyrrel Street and Kirkgate, with impressive street theatre on Bank Street, Darley Street, New Market Place and Broadway.”

The following week, on Sunday, November 18, will see the Magical Reindeer Parade take place.

The free family event, hosted by the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, will be an opportunity to see Santa and his real live reindeer as they parade through the city’s streets.

The parade will begin at 10am.

Illuminate Bradford, which took place over a weekend last October and included light-themed displays in Centenary Square, City Park, Ivegate and several other city centre streets, will be coming back to the city centre in late November.
