A PRE-SCHOOL in Shelf has retained its 'Good' rating following a recent inspection by Ofsted.
Shelf Pre-School, in Halifax Road, Shelf, receiving the rating, the same it received in 2015.
Following the inspection, Ofsted praised the pre-school's managers for being "dedicated to providing the best quality pre-school experience they can for children".
It said: "Children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported exceptionally well.
"Staff provide children with individually tailored support and develop effective partnerships with a wide range of other professionals.
"Staff place a strong focus on helping children to develop their language and vocabulary skills. Children's communication and language skills are flourishing.
"Parents speak very highly of the pre-school and state 'staff are very caring and their children love pre-school'.
"Managers and staff create an extremely inclusive environment where diversity is respected.
"Children's behaviour is excellent. They are very patient with each other, kind and caring."
To become an Outstanding pre-school, Ofsted said its managers need to focus precisely on staff's professional development to raise the quality of teaching to the highest possible level.
The pre-school, formed in 1987, cares for 28 children aged two to four, and has eight members of staff who hold early years qualifications at Level 3 or higher, with one at Level 6, and another who holds early years professional status.
