A WOMAN has warned people to remain vigilant against bicycle thieves after she released CCTV footage of an incident at her home.

One video shows the moment two individuals take two, previously locked up, bikes from a detached garage at 30 Woodlands Road, Gomersal.

Chloe Barrett, 21, who lives at the address with her 24-year-old partner, said they were both shaken by the incident and are worried the individuals may return.

She said: "Someone entering our property doesn't make you feel safe."

The theft of the bikes, said to be worth around £1,000 in total, took place over two days.

Two individuals, described as white males by Miss Barrett, unscrewed the garage's padlocked door at its hinges to gain access on the evening of Tuesday, October 2.

The CCTV shows one of the males entering the garage, while the other keeps a lookout.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

After just over two minutes the first male reappears from the garage and the pair put the door back in place before leaving.

The two hooded males returned on Wednesday, October 3 at 12:16am with a pair of wire cutters.

Miss Barrett said they had arrived in a five door, Ford Focus MK1, believed to be silver or a greeny/blue colour.

She added that the bikes in the garage were secured with bike locks, but believes the two males came back with the wire cutters to free the bicycles from their locks.

The remaining CCTV footage shows the individuals leave the garage with two bikes, a burgundy Onza Trials bike and a green and white downhill bike.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Police guidelines state that burglars often know that sheds and garages are a weak point when it comes to security and it recommends several protective measures such as extending household alarm systems to the garage and fitting specific garage door locks.

Miss Barrett said: "I would say just to do everything you can to make it so that its harder for people to do it, such as CCTV, lights, alarms etc."

She added: "How would they feel if someone came and did the same to them. How would they feel about all the hard work they do to have nice things and then someone who doesn't care just comes along and takes them."
