THE importance of breast screening and care will be highlighted at The Broadway shopping centre this weekend.
Julie Hodgins, Health Promotion Specialist and Radiographer, will be at the shopping mall from 11am until 6pm this Saturday, October 13.
As well as talking to people about the importance of screening, she will also be on hand to discuss careers in radiography ahead of Allied Health Professionals Day (October 15).
In a bid to attract young people to the profession, Julie will also be able to explain the subjects and training needed to pursue a career as a NHS radiographer.
Meanwhile, staff based at St Luke’s Pennine Breast Screening Service are raising funds for their patients during October as it is breast cancer awareness month.
This year, the money will go towards enhancing the counselling room. On Friday, the team will be holding a tombola in the main corridor of the Horton Wing from 9.30am onwards.
