CAREERS advice was on offer at the first Young Persons Fair to be held at the Crawshaw Academy, in Robin Lane, Pudsey.

The event was attended by Stuart Andrew, MP for Pudsey, who said: “Providing our young people with the best start in life is an area very close to my heart."

Local businesses attending included Abraham Moon and Sons, A.W. Hainsworth and Sons, the Phoenix Partnership, the International Citizen Service and Jordan’s Solicitors.

Representatives from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and West Yorkshire Police cadets also went along to answer questions about the range of careers on offer.

West Yorkshire Police gave presentations throughout the day around road safety called “One Life Lost” and Leeds City Council took along reality goggles to show a film scenario and discuss journey planning and half price bus passes with youngsters.

Bike Right, UK cycle training organisation,gave details of their training solutions for all individuals at all levels, including free cycling tuition and courses.

Advice was also available from Leeds Trinity University, the Samaritans and the Prince’s Trust for any concerns that youngsters or their parents had with either their personal life or with their educational prospects.
