A BRADFORD organic health solutions company has appointed specialists Chamber International to boost exports.

Smart Organic Solutions manufactures essential oil health products widely used for blood disorders, digestive problems and skin complaints.

It is working with Bradford's Chamber International’s experts to help increase exports by 40 per cent in the next two years.

Founded in 2010 by operations director, Nigel Silcox, Smart Organic Solutions supplies its products through health shops and pharmacies as well as e-commerce and has built up a £250,000 turnover of which about 25 per cent is from exports.

The Eccleshill company also makes products for use in agriculture.

Sales and marketing director, Mark Polack, said they undertook market research to identify the best countries to export to and those in Africa showed most interest.

“We now have our products registered in Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda and the UAE. We have started exporting to Ghana and Nigeria and are negotiating with distributors in the UAE.”

He added: “There is a growing interest in natural and organic products and we believe that there is a significant overseas market we can supply.

“Chamber International has been very helpful and initially supported us with our registration process in various countries including Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Nigeria. We are looking forward to building our exports through Chamber International’s help with accessing the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and the Global Chamber Network.”

Smart Organic Solutions’ two main customer groups are holistic health practitioners and members of the public. Chamber International director, Tim Bailey, added: “Smart Organic Solutions is a great example of a micro business developing sophisticated products with potential for global export.

“Our network of contacts in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and various West African countries have been asked to assist with introductions. There is huge consumer interest in this field and we look forward to helping the company increase exports worldwide.”
