TWO high rise residential buildings in the Bradford District have similar cladding to Grenfell Tower - a study has found.

After the tragic fire last year, Councils across the country were asked to investigate if buildings in their area had similar cladding - which has been blamed for the fire spreading so fast.

An investigation of Bradford's buildings has now been completed.

Following a review of over 300 structures over 18 metres high (roughly eight storeys), 36 high rise residential blocks were identified in the District. Of these two were partially clad with aluminium composite material.

The findings were given to members of Bradford Council's Regeneration and Environment Scrutiny Committee last week.

Members were told both of the buildings in question were in private ownership and, based on government guidance, officers would not be revealing which buildings they were to the public.

Work will be done to replace the cladding, and residents of the buildings have been informed of the situation. Both buildings are currently being monitored 24/7 by staff who regularly inspect the building for fire risks.

A report detailing the findings said: "The ACM materials that partially clad the two buildings will need to be removed and replaced. The costs of such works are significant."
