SHADOW Chancellor, John McDonnell MP, will visit the Pudsey constituency today as part of his nationwide tour highlighting Labour’s plans to revive the economy and raise living standards in our cities and towns.

At the Road to Rebuilding the Economy conference, Mr McDonnell will set out specific plans from Labour to create jobs, boost wages and increase living standards.

He will speak in support of Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate Jane Aitchison, who is also the Leeds Trades Union Congress President, as well as a representative for the PCS union.

Mr McDonnell said: “Jane Aitchison has been at the forefront of fighting against austerity as a trade union representative, and she has fought for workers in Pudsey for over 25 years.

“Jane knows the difference a Jeremy Corbyn-led Labour government will make for Pudsey, for all workers, and for the whole country.

“Pudsey has been let down badly by the Tory government, which has inflicted more than eight years of austerity on this community. Per person, Yorkshire gets just one-third the transport investment of London.

“Jane is a candidate who will challenge Stuart Andrew and the Tory government over these brutal cuts.”

Labour is seeking to overturn a Tory majority of 331 in Pudsey at the next General Election.
