A SECOND man has been arrested in connection with the hit and run which claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Sandy Lane on Wednesday.

The man, 24, from Bradford, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

This follows the arrest of another 24-year-old Bradford man yesterday for the same offence.

Both remain in police custody today, and enquiries are continuing.

They were arrested after a silver Ford Focus being driven up Cottingley Road in Sandy Lane on Wednesday evening crashed into a grey Yamaha motorbike, causing its 30-year-old rider, named locally as John Naylor, fatal injuries

The Ford didn't stop after the crash, and hit another car - a Volkswagen Polo - before being dumped in Meadow Court by the driver.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Swift, of the Major Enquiry Team, said yesterday: “I would urgently appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision or saw the driver of the Ford make off from the scene.

“This was a tragic incident in which a man lost his life and we want to establish the full circumstances around the collision.

“Anyone who witnessed the silver Ford Focus driving in the area prior to the collision or anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the vehicles driving in the area should get in contact with officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1596 of October 3, use the live chat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website, or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
