BRADFORD Phab club is closing the year off with a fundraising race night.

The event marks another successful year for the charity which succeeded in buying a new minibus after their old model was taken off the road.

At the end of summer a three-day activity extravaganza attracted 200 disabled and able bodied children and young adults to East Bierley Cricket Club where cricket, archery, inflatables, arts and crafts, kickboxing, super heroes and live dance were enjoyed.

Chairman of Bradford Phab Club Akbar Khan, said: “Our club promotes seeing the ability not the disability and over the summer months this has been in evidence in abundance with all the kids enjoying themselves and most importantly making new friends and learning new skills. The children have been mixing together and enjoying activities on a level playing field. It was great to see them all work together.

"It has gone very well and we have had a fantastic turnout over the two events.

"The biggest positive was that, given the number of kids we had, the way they mixed in helping each other participate is heartwarming to see”

"By the end of it some people had made some very good friendships that they will hopefully take on from here."

The charity relies solely on donations and fundraising events to carry out its work.

On Friday, November 9, a Richard Mountain Memorial Race Night is being held at Baildon Woodbottom Working Men's Club with the proceeds going towards Bradford Phab Club.

Tickets are £10 and the first race starts at 7pm.
