A DOZEN students from Bradford have been given a unique opportunity to take part in an eight week paid internship programme at major businesses.
Funding from Bradford's Opportunity Area allowed the students to take part in the programme organised by Bradford Council's work experience team, Xperience.
It helped cover the students' travel expenses and the cost of smart clothing for their internships, at organisations including Ernst & Young Foundation, PwC, Anchor Care Homes and Yeme Architects.
To celebrate their achievements, an awards evening was held at the University of Bradford last month, and students said the experience has inspired them in their future career paths.
Councillor Imran Khan, portfolio holder for education, employment and skills, said: "We are delighted to see these young people progress in the world of work and enable them to make professional links with high profile organisations.
"The employability skills they have developed will provide an excellent platform for their future careers and adult lives. The Opportunity Area funding has provided this unique experience for young people that may not have otherwise made the connections with these organisations."
