BRADFORD’S Alhambra has been crowned ‘Most Welcoming Theatre’ in Yorkshire and The Humber for the second consecutive year.
A record 56,000 public votes were cast in 12 areas of the country in the UK Most Welcoming Theatre Awards, run in association with Theatre Tokens. Representatives from winning venues are invited to the UK Theatre Awards at London’s Guildhall on October 14, where the overall winner will be announced.
Bradford Theatres general manager Adam Renton called the award a “wonderful acknowledgement”.
“We are delighted the Alhambra has scooped this award for the second year running,” he said. “To be voted Most Welcoming Theatre for Yorkshire and the Humber once is an honour, but twice is remarkable. It’s a wonderful acknowledgement of the tremendous work of our staff.”
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, added: “We’re fortunate to enjoy incredible community support and are grateful to our loyal audiences who voted.”
