SCHOOL children and their parents from across the district have been enjoying a weekend of literary events near Skipton to mark the inaugural Broughton Hall Children’s Literature Festival.
The event welcomed a myriad of renowned children’s authors including sports commentator Clare Balding.
Earlier in the week several well known authors spoke at local schools about their life stories and love of writing.
Guest author for the festival was six-times Olympic champion cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, author of Flying Fergus children’s books, who had been invited to launch the three-day event at Broughton Hall, which ends on Sunday.
Explorer Leon McCarron spoke to an audience at Bradford Grammar School earlier in the week ahead of the weekend events.
Mr McCarron took part in a 1,000-mile trek across the Middle East in 2015.
Other authors taking part included: Tony Walsh, Steve Cole, Peter Bunzl, Robin price, Nick Arnold and Cat Weatherall.
There was also a scarecrow trail through the woods, live music and activities.
