MORE than a dozen cars were stopped during a police Traffic Operation over the last two evening.
This included a driver who was going nearly double the speed limit.
The Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out the operation on White Lee Road, Heckmondwike, which has been a cause for concern with residents for several years.
In 2012 mother Nichol Jones campaigned for methods to be implemented to slow motorists down on the road.
During this week's operation, 80 vehicles were checked for speed, including the driver who was caught just under double the speed limit, doing 59mph in the 30mph zone.
The driver was reported for summons.
A further 14 cars were stopped during the operation.
Officers issued a Traffic Offence Report to one driver who was speeding at 44mph.
The other 13 drivers were provided a guidance leaflet on road safety and were advised accordingly.
A police spokesperson said: "The team will be carrying out more operations like this in the near future."
