FIRE crews were pelted with missiles as they attended a string of fires in Bradford last night.
Firefighters from Fairweather Green were initially called to a fire in the open at the Spencer Road playing fields in Lidget Green at around 9pm.
A spokesperson from the fire station said the crew got into "a bit of bother" when they got to the scene, as a group of youths threw ceramic floor tiles at the crews.
He said: "It looks like silly season has started.
"We were called out for a fire in the open and as we were dealing with that, the youths began starting other fires, so we ended up just following them round putting them out.
"Fire crews need to be vigilant when getting called out around that area, and we're just baffled every time it happens, and cannot work out why people would want to throw missiles at the emergency services."
