FOUR Welcome to Yorkshire-branded cars have completed an epic trip around Spain to highlight the county’s bid to host elite cycling races.
The BMW X3s followed cyclists around the Vuelta a España route as part of the race caravan.
The year’s third and final Grand Tour saw cyclists tackle a 3,271km (2,033 miles) race around Spain, which was eventually won by England’s Simon Yates.
The race caravan is a much-loved and traditional feature of major cycling events and sees a procession of colourful and brightly decorated vehicles travelling ahead of the riders and distributing gifts to crowds of fans.
Welcome to Yorkshire has also expressed an interest in the county hosting a La Vuelta prologue, following in the footsteps of the 2014 Tour de France and 2019 UCI Road World Championships.
