A NURSERY in Keighley has retained its ‘Good’ rating following a recent Ofsted inspection.

Highfield Nursery, in Drewry Road, was praised by inspectors for creating an environment which “highly values and celebrates diversity”.

The report said children learn to be tolerant and respectful to different cultures.

The behaviour of children was also singled out as “excellent”, with children “well mannered and polite to staff and visitors”.

It said: “Older children show empathy and sensitively offer reassurance to younger children.

“Staff are very calm and excellent role models.

“Parents speak highly of the nursery and recommend it to other families.

“They say the nursery is like an extended family and staff go above the line of duty.”

Inspectors praised staff for the support they provide children with special educational needs or disabilities, with children receiving individually tailored support providing a consisted approach to their learning and development.

To become an Outstanding nursery, Ofsted said management needs to provide more focus on staff’s development and training to life teaching to the highest level.

Highfield Nursery provides care for 62 children, and has 13 members of childcare staff, 12 of whom have early years qualifications at Level 3 or higher.
