A FAMILY has been left with a £2,000 repair bill after a car was driven into their garage door in the middle of the night.

They believe a red Peugeot 207 that been left abandoned outside the family-of-five’s home for weeks was badly damaged in the crash.

The family, which includes mum Farah Ahmed, her daughter Areej, 34, and son Arslaan, 28, were baffled by the incident, which they say was completely unprovoked.

Arslaan told the Telegraph & Argus how he spent weeks trying to find the car’s owner.

He knocked on doors nearby and placed notices on the windscreen in a bid to get it moved.

He eventually tracked down someone who told him the car could not be moved because the owner had lost the keys.

However, a few days later it had been moved and the family woke up on the morning of September 2 to find the car had been crashed into the double garage at the back of their home

Areej said: “At 4am we could hear one of our dogs was really agitated and when something isn’t right, his bark is really defined.

“I got up with my mum, but we didn’t want to go outside in the dark and went back to bed.

“One of our neighbours rang the doorbell a few hours later and told us what had happened.

“I was really shocked and angry when I saw the damage.

“We phoned the police straightaway and they said they couldn’t do anything.

Arslaan added: “The car was parked at the front of the property, which is a private road.

“We were trying to get some work done there and the car was in the way, so I put a note up saying whoever it was should move the vehicle.

“It was eventually moved, which was great, but then this happened.

“On the morning of September 2 we recognised the car straight away.

“There was a car inside, but that wasn’t damaged.

“It was trapped inside for a week while we got it fixed and we waited for the police to show up.”

The garage was repaired on Monday, leaving the family with a £2,000 repair bill.

Mrs Ahmed, 55, “I don’t feel safe in my own home.

“The double garage was badly damaged and we couldn’t get the car out for a while.”

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called at about 11.55am on September 2 about a damage-only collision involving a red Peugeot 207 which was reported to have occurred in Blenheim Road, Bradford on 2 September.

“Enquiries established that no-one had witnessed this and the vehicle had since been removed.

“Anyone who did see what happened, who has CCTV, or has any information at all about what took place is asked to contact Western Area Roads Policing Officers on 101 referencing police log 0905 of September 2.”
