A FUNDRAISING page set up in memory of a man who died almost a fortnight after a town centre incident has exceeded its original target.
Donations have flooded in to help the family of Iain Lee, 31, of Newton Aycliffe who died on Wednesday in James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
Mr Lee had been in hospital since the early hours of Saturday, September 8, when he suffered serious head injuries in an incident outside The Roundhouse bar, in the town.
An online funding appeal to help cover the funeral costs for his family was launched on Wednesday night. On Thursday it reached the £1,000 target and last night the total stood at £1,547.
Dozens of tributes have been left on the Go Fund Me page while Mr Lee’s family paid their own tribute this week.
They described him as “a much-loved son, brother and uncle” who was “everyone’s friend”.
