THE STORE manager of a supermarket embroiled in a parking row with traders says changes to the current rules will help shoppers and visitors during peak times.

Traders in Guiseley claim the Morrisons car park has never had a time limit, but changes due to come into effect in October will see cameras installed and a three hour time limit in place from 9am to 5pm.

Paul Kelly, store manager, said: “The store’s car park has always been very well used and finding a space was difficult.

“This led to us bringing in a three hour limit six years ago. However, many drivers continued to overstay and shoppers in the town told us that they were still finding it hard to find somewhere to park. The new system should help shoppers and visitors find a space even at busy times.”

Although the 400 space car park has had a three hour limit since 2012, it has not been enforced.

Some permits will be made available to traders.
