VET charity PDSA is bringing its PetWise on Tour to Bradford this week, offering free doggy health checks and lots of advice to local pet owners.

The PetWise Tour is supported by the players of People’s Postcode Lottery and travels across the UK offering expert pet care advice.

A PDSA team will be on board a PetWise on Tour vehicle on Wednesday from 10am to 4pm at Asda Shipley superstore car park.

A team from Bradford PDSA Pet Hospital will be carrying out vaccinations (by appointment) and dispensing flea and worm treatments for existing PDSA clients, as well as offering free dog wellbeing checks and general pet health advice for the general public.

PDSA’s specially developed PetWise ‘MOT’ checks on a pet’s ‘5 Welfare Needs’ – the key ingredients to pet health and happiness. These are diet, environment, companionship, behaviour and health. A simple traffic light system gives each area a score, and owners receive a personalised action plan explaining how to improve their pet’s wellbeing.

PDSA Vet Olivia Anderson-Nathan said: “We know people love their pets and want the best for them, which is why PDSA is here to help. Thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery we can now bring our services into the community. We offer free, friendly advice and support owners to make small changes that often make big differences to the wellbeing of their pets.”

PDSA is on a mission to improve the life of all pets through preventive care, emergency treatment and education. Last year they gave nearly 3,000 PetWise MOTs in communities across the UK, resulting in improvements to local dogs’ health and welfare.
