AN ORGANISER of a Macmillan Coffee Morning said she had lost three friends to cancer this year.

The Stratton fundraiser will swell the coffers of the cancer support charity.

Organiser Marilyn Smith, who has herself suffered oesophageal cancer, said: "Macmillan works so hard to help the families and give such a great deal to those who are ill.

"We organised a coffee morning last year, which brought so much pleasure to the families of those who have been through cancer.

"My friends and I have lost three wonderful people in less than a year. This event is a memory morning for their families to come and remember their loved ones.

"We want to include everyone who has been through or is going through cancer."

The event will feature live music from the J&B Cabaret Show, a raffle and a cake stall.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning will be at the Young at Heart Club at Espringham House, Hathaway Road, Stratton, on September 27, at 10am.
