AS OXFORD United prepare for their clash with Walsall this Saturday, the club's official charity will launch its new scheme for the sporting stars of the future.

Soccer Tots, a Saturday morning club for children aged 18 months to five-years-old, will be held weekly at the Oxford Academy, Sandy Lane West until December 15.

Run by Oxford United in the Community, the sessions aim to encourage enthusiasm for sport at an early age and are led by the charity's qualified coaches.

Activities will help children develop and improve their basic movement patterns, balance and motor co-ordination and boost literacy and numeracy skills.

The Soccer Tots programme is already established across the UK and will join the several programmes delivered by United's charity in nursery and primary schools.

Kate Longworth, Oxford United in the Community CEO, said: “Our Soccer Tots courses are centred around helping your children to develop first and foremost as people, and then as sports enthusiasts.

"Supporting families to instil active and healthy lifestyles in youngsters from an early age in a nurturing environment is a key part of our strategy and commitment to our community.”

Soccer Tots is £60 per child for the full programme and you can enrol at officialsoccerschools.co.uk/oxfordunited
