A DOUBLE bill taking classical music into the modern age is coming to Bradford’s Kala Sangam arts centre.
The concert, on Saturday, September 29, features Tapp – duo Rebekah Reid and Polly Virr (pictured) playing violin and cello through electronic technology such as loop pedals, creating a distinctive sound influenced by classical music, minimalism, electronic dance, jazz, folk and world music.
Also on the bill is zerOclassikal, playing a classical South Indian stringed lute called a veena. Alex Croft, creative producer at Kala Sangam, said: “This music double bill really showcases what Kala Sangam is about now – bringing different cultures together, offering platforms for exciting female artists and supporting musicians who are taking traditional, classical artforms and doing something new, fresh and exciting.”
