THERE were a host of awards for Bradford locations in this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom Competition.
A stand out performer was Keighley which received a silver gilt certificate in the large town/small city class.
The Airedale Shopping centre in the town took home a gold award with judges commenting that it contributed to the overall success of the community.
There was also a silver award for Cottingley and judges picked out the much improved community centre garden for praise.
The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway volunteers, celebrated their 50th anniversary, by retaining their Gold award and also went home with a judges' discretionary award for Best Entry Supporting Tourism.
Mount Pleasant Kennels, also in Keighley, was awarded gold in the class for small business premises.
Yorkshire in Bloom co-ordinator John Stanley was delighted with such a great set of results despite the intense heat that volunteers have battled with.
He said: “Community spirit in Yorkshire will always bring people together to overcome adversity."
