WINDY weather has caused a day of drama across the district, with fallen trees leading to problems on roads and railways.

There were scenes of destruction on Dalcross Street, West Bowling, where a huge tree was ripped from its roots and fell on a van.

Specialists have been at the scene this afternoon to clear the debris.

Brenda Rokick, 74, lives close by and said: "I was just sat watching television when I heard this thud, but I never thought anything about it.

"My son heard it and looked out of the window and saw what happened - he said it had fallen on the van.

"It missed next door's house."

Emm Lane in Manningham was also blocked after a tree came down.

Services on the railway lines into both Bradford stations have been disrupted by the weather.

On the Airedale and Wharfedale lines into Bradford Forster Square, services have also been disrupted due to overhead line problems.

And a tree came down on the line between Bradford Interchange and Halifax, stopping trains on the route earlier.

In Airedale, Northern reported that an obstruction at Kirkstall Forge was causing delays.

Due to a branch touching overhead wires, services between Bradford Forster Square, Keighley, Ilkley and Leeds were disrupted.

Network Rail staff were on site and disruption was expected until about 12.30.

On the line to Halifax, Network Rail staff dealt with the tree on the line and services were running again after 1pm.

The windy weather also caused problems on the Settle-Carlisle line resulting in a tree coming down and blocking both lines.

Train services from Skipton were delayed by up to 60 minutes.

Weather warnings remain in place for the region.

A yellow warning for rain, which includes the Bradford district, is in place from 4am tomorrow morning until 10pm in the evening.

A yellow warning for wind is also in place for some parts of Yorkshire and the Humber until Friday.
