An out of control staff attacked a woman and two dogs in a park.

The woman was walking her Maltese and Lhasa Apso in Victoria Park, Laindon, when a Staffordshire bull terrier which was off its lead and out of sight of the owner, attacked her two dogs.

It then knocked her to her ground, causing her to fall onto one of her dogs.

The owner of the other dog would not provide any details to the victim and we would like to speak to him about the incident which happened between 10.15am on 11.15am on September 7.

Nobody was injured and neither were the woman’s dogs.

The man was described as between 60 and 70 years old, with short silver or grey hair, and was of slim build.

He was wearing a pink and blue chequered short sleeve shirt and light coloured shorts.

The Staffordshire bull terrier was chocolate brown brindle and was wearing a collar with a yellow tag.

Police Constable Gareth Berwick said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and her grandson, who was with her at the time, and we welcome any information to identify the dog's owner.

“It appears the dog in question was dangerously out of control and it is fortunate the consequences were not more serious.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Barwick at Basildon Local Policing Team on 101.
