A GROUP of football fans were greeted by Bradford City legend Chris Kamara this morning when they stopped off at Valley Parade on a charity walk around West Yorkshire.

The ‘Walk for Idiots’ was organised by Leeds United fanzine The Square Ball, and the 35-mile route started and finished at Elland Road, stopping off at Valley Parade this morning, before heading back through the district to the Kirklees Stadium in Huddersfield, then heading back to Elland Road in time for the club's match against Preston North End this evening.

Famous faces on the walk included Kaiser Chiefs guitarist Simon Rix and former player Ian Harte, and the group were met by Chris Kamara and members of staff from Bradford City at Valley Parade at around 9am.

Michael Normanton, who organised the walk, said: “We had a good turnout, about 25 walkers.

“We thought we’d go on a little tour as we’re not playing either team this year so decided to pop by our local rivals.

“We got a good reception, we even got a Leeds salute from a member of staff at City, and a bit of friendly banter as well.”

The walk is in aid of Leeds Children’s Hospital and Muscular Dystrophy UK, and has raised more than £5,500 for the charities so far.
