TWO firefighters have retired from Bingley Fire Station after giving three decades service to protecting and saving lives.
Watch Manager Andy Gray worked his last shift for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service on Saturday and his colleague, Simon Lumley, will retire on Tuesday, September 18, after their 30 years' service came to an end.
Mr Gray told the Telegraph & Argus, said: "It’s fairly unusual for two firefighters to retire off the same shift at the same time, but both Firefighter Simon Lumley and myself are doing just that.
"After a thoroughly eventful and enjoyable career it’s time to move on."
The pair were both presented with a leaving plaque and certificate by Station Manager Ronnie Goldwater before they walked out of the station for the final time.
