A HOUSING development can be built on the site of a recently demolished pub after Bradford Council gave the scheme the go ahead.

The Tempest pub on on Kesteven Road, Holme Wood was torn down late last year after years of standing derelict.

The pub had been empty ever since a fire destroyed and forced the closure of the pub in 2011, and since then had become a magnet for fly tipping, vandals and anti social behaviour.

The grounds were regularly strewn with mattresses, timber, kitchen items, bin bags and old fences.

Earlier this year Crag Developments announced that it planned to build houses on the site, and now Council planning officers have approved a development of 11 homes.

There will be three, three-bed homes and eight two-bed homes, as well as 14 parking spaces.

The developer's original application said the long-term vision for the site was that it will be offered to an association providing social housing.
